“I LOVE Atlanta…
but I love my SON more.”
-RM Lathan, 2021
(explaining the decision behind the BIG MOVE to TX after 33 years in GA)

• FEB-2021: We first learned about the possible TX move.
• APR-2021: We began quietly telling family & friends, getting ready to market our house, purging, packing, and giving away countless items. RM shot an announcement video (not to be released until December–see below).
• MAY-2021: Noah stayed in ATL to finish 5th Grade and spend the summer with RM.
• JUN-2021: RM made his first of three visits to TX (connecting with fellow alumni, exploring the city, and feeding Noah’s pets while he was traveling with his Mom).
• JUL-2021: Noah moved to TX and prepared to start Middle School in AUG… RM was all alone (missing The Kid big-time).
• SEP-2021: RM sold the ATL house and prepared to make his move.
• OCT-2021: RM visited again and saw Noah for the first time in ninety (90) days for a meaningful reunion in the making. RM began a home search, joined the YMCA, rented a POB, became a supporter of the local NPR member station, and had a blast with Noah for ten (10) days.
• DEC-2021: RM went public with the video announcement and left ATL as he flew to Dallas to join Noah (had his car shipped). RM is staying in a small, temporary spot Downtown while Noah and he look for a more permanent home.
• JAN-2022: Noah helped RM celebrate his FIRST birthday🎂 in TX (Jan-13). We found a small house 20 minutes away from our temporary Downtown Dallas apartment with easy access to both Dallas airports (DAL and DFW). RM flew back to ATL and made arrangements with the Moving Company. They loaded two (2) trucks with our belongings in ATL (they SHOULD have purged better and had much less to move–ha) and the trucks left GA heard to TX. The new house is MUCH SMALLER than what was sold in ATL, but we are making it their wonderfully cozy HOME—looking forward to welcoming family and friends for a nice TX visit soon.
• FEB-2022: Our life is filled with unpacking, getting new appliances, learning the area, and meeting wonderful new neighbors. We had snow, ice, and freezing weather here in TX, but luckily, it was no where as bad as the 2021 severe winter event they experienced.
